The beginning of 2018 witnessed the first official diplomatic visit to China of Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Theresa May has claimed her visit will intensify the golden era in Anglo-Chinese relations. More importantly, the visit unveiled the UK’s new educational links with China, including the extension of the exchange programmes for Mathematics teachers, joint training of pre-school staff, better information sharing on vocational education. It is expected that the new year will witness more children and young people benefiting from educational projects and enjoying sharing their ideas on our two great nations as Mrs May has stated education will ensure that ‘our golden era of co-operation will endure for generations to come’.
During the talk with Mrs May, President Xi quoted William Shakespeare: ‘What’s past is prologue.’
In December 2017, the Chinese Vice Premier Madame Liu Yandong attended the UK-China People-to-People (P2P) Dialogue in the UK, during which she pointed out that education and science & technology are the key areas for Anglo-Chinese co-operation, and hoped to strengthen the existing collaboration between higher education institutions in the two countries. As President Xi noted, step by step, China and the UK had elevated their relationship and he looked forward to further building on its success.
In the spirit of the golden era, First Landing Education (FLE) intends to carry forward our past achievements and forge ahead into the future, especially in the field of international education.
