CBBC is arranging for a business delegation to travel to Shenzhen and Guangzhou between 18 and 20 November.
In Shenzhen, delegates will attend the 15th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) in Shenzhen, which runs from 18 to 19 November. This is the largest and most influential science and technology fair in China.
It will be followed by the highlight of the Shenzhen programme: a China Outbound seminar on 19 November, targeting Chinese companies, especially hi-tech companies, who are looking to go global and invest in British companies.
On 20 November, a second China Outbound seminar will be held, in Guangzhou, the hub of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region, to help British companies to identify partnerships with strong Chinese companies that are looking to expand overseas.
Why participate?
  • Speaking and sponsorship opportunities - CBBC is offering a number of speaking and sponsorship opportunities at the two seminars.with the cooperation of the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality and the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province.
  • Meet potential clients and business partners - the seminars will be an opportunity to get to know contacts in hi-tech Chinese companies in the early stages of going global.
  • Build relationships - in addition to the seminars, the programme will include meetings with government officials, industry associations and other local stakeholders.

Why Shenzhen and Guangzhou?

Shenzhen is a link between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, as well as a major manufacturing and transportation hub. The city is strong in hi-tech, financial services, foreign trade, shipping and the creative industries, and it is a pilot for China's broader structural reforms and opening to the outside world. In 2012, it saw GDP growth of 10% and the total volume of its imports and exports reached $466.7 billion, of which exports accounted for $271.3 billion, the highest of any mainland Chinese city.

Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province, the wealthiest province in China, ranks third among major Chinese cities in terms of comprehensive economic strength. It is located in the heart of Pearl River Delta (PRD), which has developed into a world-class manufacturing base. In 2012, Guangzhou’s overseas investment reached $712 million, 66.6% more than in 2011.
