The manufacturing sector in China is facing new challenges: bigger constraints from the environment and resources, rising labor costs and a notable slowdown in investment and exports. Government is keen to comprehensively upgrade Chinese industry. In May 2015, China unveiled a 10 year national plan, “Made in China 2025”. The key to creating a new driver of economic growth lies in the manufacturing sector. Management accountant skills are expected to be instrumental in transforming the manufacture sector by influencing costs and productivity. And management accountants are trusted to guide critical business decisions and drive strong business performance. Their skills encompass a mix of operations, management and strategy. As the leading and largest management accountants professional body, CIMA will demonstrate its true value at this historical crossroad. The CIMA roundtable will invite the influential industry leaders and academic researchers to input their insights on the basic elements of “Industry 4.0”.

And all at speeds unprecedented in economic history. This means that a business model which worked yesterday could fail tomorrow. It is a time for management accountants. With a holistic view of their organization, management accountants are well placed to understand this link between the business model and commercial success. Never has finance leadership been more important than it is in the internet plus era.
