Cultural integration is a key factor in the success of a merger or joint venture. It is critical to achieving synergy, and yet it is often overlooked. Even when it is considered, it can be a large undertaking with so much else to take into account. 
In this workshop, organised by the BritCham/CBBC HR & Training Forum, we will use case studies to examine the importance of cultural cohesion in a successful UK-China partnership – and how you achieve this.
We are pleased to invite three experienced speakers to share their expertise:
Jeremy Perks of Mindset Matters Group, who will introduce some interesting statistics on merger success factors along with best practice approaches for achieving cultural integration, citing real cases and encouraging participants to relate their own experience;
Lambert Bu of McKinsey and Patrick Horgan of Rolls-Royce, who will relate their personal experience of mergers and integration in China from both a cultural and a commercial perspective.

About the presenters
Jeremy Perks, Managing Director, Mindset Matters Group China
Jeremy is Managing Director and Principal Consultant for Mindset Matters Group in China, specialising in organisational, leadership and team transformation. He has provided services to many of the world's largest multinational companies in Asia, and has a reputation for consistently delivering exceptional work. As a consultant, coach and facilitator, Jeremy has extensive first-hand experience of working with cultural integration in mergers.
Mindset Matters Group are thought leaders in adult learning and organisation transformation. We know how to pragmatically link mindsets and behaviours to organisational results. We have deep expertise in building high performing people and organisations.
Lambert Bu, Associate Partner, McKinsey & Company China
Lambert is Associate Partner for McKinsey & Company, based in Shanghai. He is the leader of the McKinsey Business Technology Office in Greater China, and the leader of the "global operating model" service line in Asia. He specialises in global operating model design and multi-year transformation for Chinese globalisers, especially in the high technology and consumer electronics manufacturing industries. He has been deeply involved as a client counsellor in some major post-merger integrations.
McKinsey is the leading global management consulting firm advising top management of leading companies, governments and non-profits on issues of strategy, organisation, technology & operations.
Patrick Horgan, Regional Director, North-East Asia, Rolls-Royce
Patrick Horgan is Regional Director, North-East Asia for Rolls-Royce, covering China, Japan and Korea, based in Beijing. His background spans business, diplomacy and cultural relations, combined with deep Asia and China experience dating back to 1989. Patrick served as Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in China from 2004 to 2006 and on the Executive Committee of the EU Chamber from 2012-2014. In 2007 he was awarded an OBE by the Queen for services to the business community in China. For two years prior to Rolls-Royce, he was Counsellor for Education at the British Embassy in Beijing and Director of Programmes for the British Council in Greater China. He is a graduate of Oxford University, and a Mandarin speaker
Rolls-Royce has been powering China for more than half a century, starting with the first Dart engines we delivered to power Chinese Vickers Viscount aircraft in 1963. Today all major airlines in Greater China are its long-standing customers.
About the HR & Training Forum
Human resource issues are a pressing concern for many companies currently operating in China. Current challenges include the impact of China's Labour and Social Insurance Laws, managing talent in China, and attracting, developing and retaining talented staff. The HR & Training Forum aims to cater to a wide range of individuals; from those working in corporate HR to managers, lawyers and those in the recruitment and training sector.
