Beijing, 3 May 2017 – One of Martin Berasategui’s most acclaimed protégés, Chef Erlantz Gorostiza, has been invited to present a selection of the restaurant’s signature dishes at Grill 79 from 3 June to 6 June 2017.

Chef Gorostiza is head of gastronomy at the Michelin two-starred M.B Restaurant – Abama Golf and Spa Resort in Tenerife.  It is a dynamic space, with a team of young and experienced professionals from the world of catering.  M.B is currently still the only establishment with two Michelin stars in the history of the Canary Islands.  The Michelin Guide has awarded the restaurant its second star in recognition of its work on the spectacular balance between food, raw ingredients and good knowledge of its cuisine.

Taking advantage of its unique geographical location and climatic conditions, Spanish cuisine has a wide selection of fresh ingredients, coupled with rich colours, a wide variety of food and the rich and diverse food culture in Spain, known as the gourmet paradise.

Rome is not built in one day.  Chef Gorostiza has an extensive experience in the field, and his impressive professional career includes other ‘starry’ establishments, such as the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca (Girona) with three Michelin stars, Quique Dacosta (Alicante) with three stars and The Gates (Cuenca), Andra Mari (Vizcaya) and Kubita Kaia (Vizcaya), all of which have one Michelin star. Guests should not pass up this exclusive opportunity to taste Basque cooking at its best.  Temperatures, flavours and textures predominate, blending tradition, technology and innovation together to provide customers with a true culinary experience.

Pre-sell function is available on hotel’s WeChat account at “bjcwsw”. For enquiries and reservations, please call (86 10) 8571 6459 or send email to fbreservations.cwsw@shangri-la.com to secure a booking.

About Michelin Guide
The Michelin Guide is a series of guide books published by the French company Michelin for more than a century.  The term normally refers to the annually published Michelin Red Guide, the oldest European hotel and restaurant reference guide which awards Michelin stars for excellence to a select few establishments.  The acquisition or loss of a star can have dramatic effects on the success of a restaurant. In 1900, fewer than 3,000 cars graced the roads of France. To boost the demand for cars and, accordingly, car tires, brothers and car-tire manufacturers Édouard and André Michelin published the first edition of a guide for French motorists, the Michelin Guide.  The brothers printed nearly 35,000 copies of this first free edition of the Michelin Guide, which provided motorists with useful information, such as maps, tire repair and replacement instructions, car-mechanic listings, hotels and petrol stations throughout France.

In 1926, the guide began to award stars to fine-dining establishments.  Michelin’s review is rigorous and fair, almost harsh.  Michelin inspectors are completely anonymous; they do not identify themselves, and their meals and expenses are paid for by the company founded by the Michelin brothers, never by a restaurant being reviewed.  Michelin is a symbol of honour.
