On Thursday 15th September 2011, Half the Sky is holding a Fundraising Ball at the Mandarin Oriental, London.

Supported by the Chinese Embassy, and attended by Mr Qin Gang, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the evening features a champagne reception, a performance by the National Youth Theatre, keynote speech from Founder and CEO Jenny Bowen, a fabulous auction, dinner and dancing. More than 170 guests are attending from the business, charity and diplomatic community.

Half the Sky Foundation was established 13 years ago to improve the lives of orphaned children living in China’s social welfare institutions and has more than 30,000 supporters world-wide, as well as a growing number of corporate citizens and private foundations. It is one of only a handful of foreign NGOs registered in China and in 2010 founder Jenny Bowen was a recipient of the prestigious Skoll Award.

Half the Sky seeks to ensure orphaned children receive the early childhood opportunities to thrive by providing infant nurture programs with trained nannies to care for the babies, tailored preschool education for toddlers, personalised learning opportunities for older children, and loving, permanent family and medical care for children with disabilities. Half the Sky offers the care, attention and development environment that a loving family would otherwise provide.

A limited number of individual tickets and table sponsorships are still available for the event priced between £250 and £9,000.
