At the next edition of the IET Engineering networking evenings, the IET are delighted to invite two two experts from the engineering and healthcare sectors to share their knowledge and experiences in professional development for engineers and training needs in the healthcare technology management cycle.

The first speaker, Andrew Gammie is a Clinical Engineer with over 25 years' experience in the field.  His career has taken him through a number of roles starting with device design and development in the UK, then as a resident trainer with a medical mission in Nepal, acting consultant for India, Nepal, PDR Laos at the WHO and he currently has a role in the urodynamic field for the UK Health Service as well as working for Fishtail Consulting in serving developing countries. He is a member of the IET, IPEM and is a registered Clinical Scientist.

During his presentation, Mr. Gammie will address the healthcare technology management cycle and best practice approaches from around the globe. As well as examining the training needs of engineers, technicians, users and managers.

Following this, Dick Bacon, a registered Chartered Engineer and Manager of the Professional Development department at the IET, will discuss the importance of professional development for Engineers. More specifically he will focus on the development of young Engineers and how to measure the effectiveness of this as well as touching on the IET’s role in helping provide a platform for professional growth.
