Our Infrastructure and Property Forum will meet at the British Embassy on Wednesday 14th May for an update on where the forum stands to date and what members would like to achieve and aim towards in 2014.
Attendees will be invited to give feedback and suggestions to the relevant sector leads from UKTI and CBBC on matters that are of interest to their business.
Aims of the meeting
  • To provide an initial briefing for 2014. Hear from UKTI and CBBC on where they are focusing their efforts this year – and have your say in it.
  • To identify where members’ interests lie. Key issues currently include urbanisation, sustainability, business opportunities and market access to public projects (e.g. PPP/procurement). This is linked to the CBBC Liveable Cities Programme 2014/15.
  • For members to raise pertinent issues or questions.
  • To set down a plan for future forum meetings and sector updates.
Notable attendees
  • Joanna Key, Urbanisation Director, British Embassy Beijing
  • Matt Downing, First Secretary/Head of China Energy, Environment, Construction, UKTI
  • Patrik Li, CBBC Business Advisor, Energy, Infrastructure and Environment
About the Infrastructure and Property Forum
Forum overview and objectives
The Infrastructure and Property Forum is of relevance and interest to members in the construction industry including architects, engineers, planners, contractors, developers, investors, brokers and other consultants. This multi-disciplinary forum is intended as a meeting point, discussion group and business advancement source, as well as an education and career development environment for experienced professionals. This includes those from the full range of disciplines, trades and sectors related to the construction and real estate value chain industry.
The objective of the forum is to provide a platform to deliver information focusing on the construction and real estate industries, thus serving an area in which British companies and individuals excel globally, and helping them create opportunities to interact with and deepen their knowledge of the China construction and real estate sector.
Specifically, the forum aims to:
  • disseminate UKTI updates and news of relevant VIP visits and other UKTI developments in this sector;
  • provide a point of liaison with the Chinese authorities regarding the construction industry;
  • provide Chinese companies intending to invest in the UK with the opportunity to interact with British professionals.
