CBBC is inviting UK companies to express interest in supporting a UK Guest Country of Honour Pavilion at the 18th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), which will take place in Xiamen from 8th-11th September 2014. Supporting companies will, in exchange, receive a range of profiling opportunities at the fair.

Over the past 17 years, CIFIT has grown to become China’s biggest investment promotion event covering both inbound and outbound investment, and this year leaders from China’s 31 provinces and municipalities will bring together local businesses and prominent Chinese companies who are seeking international partners. CIFIT is sponsored by China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and in 2013 attracted 1,470 exhibiting enterprises and over 55,000 visitors from all corners of China and the world.

Opportunities for UK companies at CIFIT 2014 include both inbound and outbound trade and investment.

What is the UK Guest Country of Honour Pavilion?
Each year CIFIT invites one nation to be profiled as the fair’s Guest Country of Honour. In exchange, the selected country is provided with a range of unique promotional opportunities to place their products, services and investments at the forefront of the exhibition.

CBBC has been approached by CIFIT to organise a UK Guest Country of Honour Pavilion at the fair in 2014. Having worked closely with CIFIT for the previous five years, CBBC is familiar with the opportunities the fair presents for British companies and we believe that having a high quality UK Pavilion at the fair will be of great benefit to the participating companies and the UK as a whole.

Whilst this is clearly an exciting opportunity to promote British business in China, it will not be possible unless we have the right level of support from British companies. Our estimates put the total cost of having a high quality UK Pavilion at CIFIT 2014 in the region of £180,000. We are therefore approaching major UK companies to see if we can raise sufficient funding before proceeding any further.

Why Participate?
  • Meet Potential Clients & Partners:
China is going global and the opportunities for British companies to engage and support Chinese companies, particularly in the areas of finance, law, accountancy, consultancy, marketing and other related services, are increasing. CIFIT provides the opportunity for UK service providers to meet with potential clients and partners to demonstrate their products and expertise.
  • Promote Your Investment Opportunities:
British companies looking to promote their investment projects are invited to meet with companies and entrepreneurs visiting Xiamen from all over China.
  • Showcase Your Products:
Exports to China from the UK are increasing (UK to China exports have doubled since 2009) and so are the opportunities for UK exporters to get their products into the Chinese market. British companies exhibiting at CIFIT will be invited to display their products at the UK Pavilion.
  • Build Your Relationships & Reputation:
For businesses wanting to facilitate expansion in China, building brand awareness and long-term relationships with high profile officials is essential for success. Thanks to its extensive China network and involvement as a Guest Nation of Honour, CBBC can assist with arranging meetings with visiting officials from across China during the fair.
  • Participate In Events:
During CIFIT 2014 there will be a wide range of events going on around the fair. With the UK as Guest Country of Honour, CBBC will have first access to exhibitions, project matchmaking, forums and seminars to provide additional opportunities for participating companies to expand their networks.

How Will My Company Benefit?
British companies who support the UK Guest Country of Honour Pavilion will receive a range of benefits from CIFIT, the fair organisers, which include the following:
- Access to exclusive Guest Country of Honour events with high ranking Chinese officials including a large dinner reception held exclusively to promote British companies
- Complimentary two years of dedicated post event follow-up services to ensure that investor interest is pursued and acted upon
- Priority focus from media during the fair (CIFIT 2013 involved 320 media outlets)
- Priority access to exhibitions, project matchmaking, forums and seminars held in conjunction during the fair.

In addition to the benefits above, CBBC will also provide the following:
- Company profiling at the Pavilion
- Dedicated exhibition space at the Pavilion to raise the profile of your company in front of Chinese Government representatives, companies and entrepreneurs during the fair through branding and product placement
- Speaking opportunities
- Acknowledgement in the dedicated pre/during/post-event publicity materials and speeches produced by CBBC.
