(September 6 2011, Beijing) Today in Beijing, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and the Beijing Vocational College of Electronic Science and Technology (BVC) have officially launched their joint cooperation project, the Apprentice Training Programme, at JLR advanced new training academy in Beijing.

As part of JLR’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Programme intends to foster high-caliber talents in the auto industry by cultivating local students and implementing sustainable development. It will also ensure students' skills are comprehensively improved thorough the use of newly advanced software and hardware and gain confidence through career guidance and support.

"As the fastest growing market for JLR, China has strategic significance for the company. Taking root in China and cultivating local talent is one of our goals for long-term sustainable development,” said Mr. Bob Grace, President of JLR China. “BVC's innovative spirit and vision gives us a fantastic opportunity to work alongside each other, and provide a new cooperation model in auto talent education, as well as a school-enterprise partnership."

Together, JLR and BVC have reached an agreement on innovating vocational education and cultivating highly-skilled talent. It is this agreement between the two parties that has led to their formal cooperation. Students will receive first-class technical training in the industry from day one by working with an experienced team of trainers. Drawing on JLR's advantages in resources, technology and employment, students will be provided with teaching equipment and practice areas. Not only have JLR headquarters provided three free units of Land Rover vehicles for teaching purposes, but also introduced JLR's universal "Excellence" grade certification system and a professional training team including multiple highly qualified trainers. JLR will also play an active role in the design and assessment of the vocational training courses, with the aim to produce better talent for overall development of the industry.

In September, nearly 90 students will begin studying in the "Jaguar Land Rover Class", who, upon graduation, will obtain "Excellence" certificate and have priority to be recruited by JLR's after-sales service team.

Mr. Sun Shanxue, member of Beijing Municipal Education Commission says, "JLR's intense participation, advanced ideas and rich experience combined with lessons given by our experienced experts and lecturers will make these students competitive in the future. While meeting the industry's need for talent, the Apprentice Training Programme also promotes the advancement of vocational education in China."

Located in Beijing and Shanghai respectively, the two Jaguar Land Rover Training Academies provide professional training for 5,000 dealership staff every year and are trained under their "Excellence" system – a talent development programme using advanced facilities and first-class standards, which guarantees the same quality in service and experience globally. Those undertaking the training will be motivated to challenge themselves, realize their true potential, enhance their skills and broaden their career path.

JLR firmly believe that creating a high-level talent cultivating system is the basis for consistent success and creates greater value for both the auto industry and society. Focused on the present and looking towards the future, JLR will bring the Apprentice Training Programme to more vocational schools to continue bolstering China's vocational education and promoting the technical progress of the auto industry.
