The British Consulate General joined hands with Chongqing’s Jiulongpo District Youth League & Foreign Affairs Office on November 12th to express solidarity with the children. The British Consulate General also donated over RMB 15,000 worth of library books, toys and sports equipment to Huayan Primary School and at the same time hoped to raise awareness about the children of migrant workers.

The British Consulate General in Chongqing has been an avid supporter of Chongqing’s Balanced Urban Rural Development and related activities. In 2008 the UK and Chongqing signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Balanced Urban and Rural Development.  Over the past few years both sides have been working together to build a low carbon economy, improving medical treatment in rural areas, and delivering training to headmasters as part of a wide ranging cooperation
