Our Young Professionals and CSR forums are hosting a joint evening of professional development and networking in the informal surroundings of Migas bar on Thursday 5 June.
The evening will kick off with a workshop led by Martin Barnes, a specialist in presentation skills at Mountains of Imagination, the presentation design consultancy, who will draw on his 12 years’ experience delivering bespoke presentations and training.
The workshop will cover the secrets of effective communication in business, including how to make clean and focused presentations to connect with your audience. Martin’s style emphasises the importance of compelling story-telling in presentation.
After that, it’s time to relax and do some story-telling of your own! The networking session will run until 9.30pm for members and friends of our Young Professionals and CSR forums to mingle and chat about life and work in Beijing.
The entrance fee includes one free beer, wine or soft drink.

About the presenter
In January 2013, at the start of his 10th year working in Beijing's design and art scene, Martin Barnes started Mountains of Imagination, a creative studio that specialises in producing kick-ass presentations which empower people to tell compelling stories and effectively share awesome ideas.
About the CSR Forum
In today’s rapidly changing world, companies' responsibilities extend far beyond the statutory obligation to comply with legislation.  Corporations now must consider the wider impact that they have on customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment across all aspects of their operations. Our CSR forum looks at a wide range of issues including, but not limited, to climate change, energy, development and sustainability.
The CSR forum is chaired by Clare Pearson (DLA Piper) and supported by colleagues from our partner organisations, including the British Embassy’s Energy and Environment division.
About the Young Professionals Forum
The emergence of China as a world leader has led increasing numbers of young British professionals to consider and to take up early-career positions in the country. The Young Professionals Forum aims to provide both an on-the-ground and an online sphere in which young professionals can be connected and informed, and find guidance and support.
The forum is co-chaired by Mark Scott and Thomas Stead. Mark is an Economics graduate from the University of Manchester who works for Dulwich College Beijing as Marketing Manager. Thomas is an English with Creative Writing graduate from Brunel University who is currently Marketing Officer at Yew Chung International School of Beijing.
