The British Chamber's Retail, Food and Drink Forum is delighted to invite you to attend a meeting on Wednesday 2 March.

This event is an ideal opportunity to meet Karen Morgan, the newly appointed Agriculture, Food and Drink Counsellor of the British Embassy. She will introduce her and her team's roles and present a review of 2015. She will then be joined by a CBBC representative to discuss plans for the Great British Brands Festival, CBBC's unique sales platform which helps UK brand retailers to penetrate local markets in key cities all around China.

Karen Morgan

British Embassy Beijing

Karen Morgan is the Agriculture, Food and Drink Counsellor in the British Embassy Beijing. Her role includes policy overview of UK Government policy for agriculture, food and drink in relation to China, working with the Chinese Government to secure market access for new food products, and working with both UK and Chinese companies to support trade and investment between the UK and China. She has worked for the UK Government for 15 years, primarily in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural affairs which is responsible for environment, food and agriculture policy.

Formerly she was head of policy in relation to food strategy and food security, was head of the agricultural growth team working on the EU Common Agricultural Policy, and before that was the Senior Private Secretary to the UK’s Minister of State for Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Prior to working on agriculture and food she led UK Government teams to develop legislation for the marine environment and to negotiate new agreements on environmental governance with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Karen took up her posting in Beijing in April 2015.
