The British Chamber/CBBC's Education Forum invites members and non-members to attend this update on student visas. Our guest speakers from the British Council will describe changes in two main areas: exams and changes to the application process.
Tiffany You, Director of Exams for North and Central China, will speak about exams, covering:
  • Types of IELTS (Regular IELTS, IELTS for UKVI and IELTS Life Skills
  • IELTS test centre locations
  • An update on UKVI test centre capacity
Jingjing Jiang, Customer Liaison Officer covering education and official visa schemes, will speak about the application process, covering:
  • Tier 4 student visa application process
  • Tier 4 recommended supporting documents
  • Policy changes (SELT, BRP, health surcharge)
  • Visa service and products

Tiffany You - Director, Exams, North and Central China
Tiffany leads a team of over 200 staff and examiners in Beijing and is responsible for exams operation, compliance and business development across the region. She has led the UKVI-SELT project since its inception and overseen the setting up of 12 UKVI IELTS Test Centres in China as well as leading on daily updates and communications to UKVI in the UK through the Global IELTYS Director in London.
Jingjing Jiang - Customer Liaison Officer
Jingjing Jiang joined UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) in 2011 as an Entry Clearance Assistant at the British Embassy in Beijing. She took the role of PA to the UKVI China Regional Manager from autumn 2011 to 2013. In 2014 Jingjing was promoted to Customer Liaison Officer covering education and official visa schemes with responsibility for supporting partners and customers in the relevant sectors. Prior to joining UKVI, Jingjing spent three years in the United States. She obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of Washington, and worked with a non-profit organisation specialising in providing educational programmes for youth.
About the Education Forum
The Education Forum invites individuals interested in the Chinese educational sector as well as the following main groups of members: foreign-owned schools operating in Beijing; education and training providers, ranging from importers of educational materials through to English language schools; awarding bodies of UK qualifications; UK education providers targeting Chinese students; and education consultants.
In addition to the general objectives the Education Forum also aims:
  • to improve government relations and develop alliances with relevant bodies.
  • to conduct strategic communications in order to inform members of policies and specific business opportunities relating to the education sector.
  • to organise events promoting UK education providers in China.

The forum is chaired by Qu Min (London Metropolitan University) and Peter Bloxham (PFB Associates).
