The use of international standards has never been more important for China, as its largest companies undertake prestigious projects around the world as part of the Belt & Road initiative. Compliance with recognised standards will support the emergence of true and tested Chinese partners for future international cooperation.
The rule of law is a major theme of the UK government’s bilateral support for China, and the applied use of standards is seen as an angle to achieve prosperity for China and support for UK companies with expertise in international standards compliance.
Two directors from the China-Britain Business Council will host and moderate the session: Patrik Li, the head of energy, environment and infrastructure, and Mick Ryan, head of business environment issues. We are delighted to welcome Dr Scott Steedman CBE, of the British Standards Institute, to give the main talk of the evening.
The British Embassy’s rule of law team and the Great Britain China Centre have also been invited to speak at the event.
Attendance is free of charge and canapés will be provided during the evening. Please note that seats are limited and will be first come, first served.
