Yi Lai Ou Suzhou celebrates the Best of British featuring Great Creations Exhibition

As one of the Collection of Villages by Value Retail, which includes Bicester Village, the original shopping tourism destination, Yi Ou Lai Suzhou is proudly celebrating its British heritage and enduring commitment to creativity and innovation with a Best of British Festival. To run from 25 March to 3 May the Festival will showcase the Best of British fashion, food, film, music and art – the very heart of British culture.

During the Festival Yi Ou Lai Suzhou will be transformed with traditional English landscape gardens, inspired by the classic Chinese gardens of the East, to usher in the promise of spring. Royal Guards will greet visitors as they enter the Village and an entire street will feature a bowler hats installation that captures the spirit of quintessential Britain. 
 
Guests will be entertained by stylishly dressed street performers, be able to take photographs in front of iconic British imagery, and enjoy British favourites such as fish and chips, English breakfast tea ice-cream and much more from pop-up carts.

As the centerpiece of the Festival, Yi Ou Lai is hosting the GREAT Creations Exhibition on the first stop of its world tour. It comprises a unique collection of bespoke objects that have been generously created for the GREAT Britain Campaign - a UK-Government led initiative to encourage the world to visit, study and do business with GREAT Britain - by some of the UK’s most creative talents. All global leaders in the fields of music, fashion, design and film, together they showcase the best of British craftsmanship and creativity.
 
The GREAT Creations Exhibition features:
  • Q by Aston Martin Rapide S – a one off featuring the GREAT logo, with unique style which is enhanced by the brand’s bespoke personalisation service, Q by Aston Martin.
  • Four portrait photographs by David Bailey CBE of Her Majesty the Queen, which reveal the British monarch in a new light. 
  • A Roger Smith watch by Roger W Smith who is renowned as a maverick of horology creating less than 10 timepieces each year. He is the only watchmaker in the world to hand-make every timekeeping component within his watchmaker’s studio. 
  • The iconic front door of No. 10 Downing Street, home to Britain’s Prime Minister, in the form of an interactive model – The Digital Double – devised by installation artist Jason Bruges and Benchmark
  • The GREAT dress by Nicholas Oakwell, which required 65,000 ostrich feathers, 200 carats of rubies and a total of 2,320 hours of work from Britain’s leading needleworkers and seamstresses.
  • A Paddington Bear “Film is GREAT” model, designed by actor, writer and comic Stephen Fry to inspire the imagination of the young at heart. 
  • The GREAT Presentations Bowl by Cleave and Company that features the four countries that make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
  • Mulberry will showcase a one of a kind Cara Delevingne bag, designed in its signature oak natural leather, embossed with a Union jack emblem design. 
To complement the Exhibition within the Yi Pavilion, the Village’s resident gallery for curated shows with emerging Chinese artists and designers, there will be a fashion exhibition showcasing the Best of British design and craftsmanship. Featuring leading British brands such as Hackett, Dunhill, Cath Kidston, Vivienne Westwood and Ted Baker, it will include signature pieces from past collections. Many of the Village’s boutiques will also be hosting special events and providing a range of exclusive savings and gifts with purchase throughout the Festival period.
