Purpose of role

The purpose of the role is to manage, supervise and implement the administration of the Department across the range of its activities, providing support and strategic advice to the Head of Department and academic members of staff.

 

Main responsibilities

1Management and Development of Commercial and Partnership Opportunities   

 

§  Work with all schools and faculties to identify and develop new commercial and partnership opportunities.

§  Support the development of new BDO initiatives including but not limited to: tri-campus international programmes; training programmes for the creative industry; online training programmes through UoN Online; new pre-sessional pathways and foundation programmes..

§  Conduct market research and provide market insight.

2Liaison and Management of client/ partner relations

 

§  Build and manage a network of clients and partners.

§  Manage client/ partner information via CRM to add value to the university

§  Explore and manage cross-departmental collaboration within the university.

§  Present own/teams work activities to internal or external meetings as required to ensure that school/departmental/work unit issues are appropriately represented.

§  Liaise, communicate and build working relationships across a number of sub-sections of schools/departments/work units and with external contacts and contractors as appropriate.

3Management of Marketing and Events

 

§  Manage the design and delivery of the marketing campaigns for the commercial programmes

§  Develop and manage new marketing and promotion channels

§  Evaluate and mange event attendance and be able to identify high impact events for the department or University

§  Regular business trips to visit key clients or in attendance to events for commercial or promotion purposes

4Team Management and Office Operation

 

§  Conduct daily operations to support the office administration work

§  Support the senior managers to fulfil and supervise the BDO operation

§  Support on the development of the tendering documents

§  Work with suppliers to develop manage an online training platform

5Analysis & Reporting

§  Analyse and interpret management data and information and assist in the production of management reports.

§  Supply data and information to other schools/departments/work units or external organisations (e.g. government departments) as required.

§  Identify an appropriate existing method of analysis or investigation according to the data and objectives of the work.

§  Monitor and maintain records/reports to meet both internal and external (e.g. legislative or national) requirements.

§  Manage the use of data and information and identify and assess the information and data needs of the role/ others.

6People Management

 

§  Manage a team of colleagues operating within a sub-section of a department/school, recruiting, monitoring and supporting the development of team members to ensure that individual contributions are maximised.

§  Ensure work of team is carried out and performed to the required standard, taking necessary follow-up measures as required.

·        Skills in using social media platforms for online marketing and B2C recruitment

·        Skills in negotiating the terms and conditions of commercial contracts

·        Written and spoken professional proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

Knowledge and experience§  Experience of B2C and B2B business development in the commercial education sector.

§  Work experience in the private education sector in China

 

Qualifications, certification and training (relevant to role)§  Degree qualified in relevant subject/relevant formal training, plus some hands on experience business development role.

OR  

§  Proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical knowledge of business development in education sector.

§  Master’s degree

§  Additional qualifications in specific working area, such as PMP, ACCA etc.
