A seminar was successfully held in Huzhou, Zhejiang on 19th June to help Chinese private companies going abroad. The seminar was organized by Huzhou Confederation of Industry and Commerce and Feizhou Group. Weifeng Ma, Director, China Outbound of China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) attended and spoke at the seminar on behalf of CBBC.
The seminar had a theme of how Chinese private companies can benefit from the capital market in the West and professional and intermediary services under the Belt and Road Initiative when making outbound investment. It was attended by the Party Secretary of Huzhou City, CBBC, London Stock Exchange, VSA Capital, Oxis Energy, leading law firms and accounting firms as well as over 100 companies from Huzhou.
In his speech, Party Secretary Chen Weijun said Huzhou has a solid foundation for the Belt and Road Initiative. Famous for its silk and tea, Huzhou played an important part in the ancient Silk Road. Huzhou is also well positioned to participate in the Initiative, as it is located at the intersecting points of the Belt and Road. Mr Chen stressed that Huzhou will strive to push forward the development of Huzhou as a model city of Made in China 2025 and develop Huzhou into an important city along the Belt and Road.
Weifeng Ma made a speech on behalf of CBBC. In his speech, Mr. Ma introduced the services CBBC provides in promoting the trade and investment between the UK and China, particularly CBBC’s China Outbound Programme. He also invited the delegates to attend CBBC’s 5th China Outbound Conference which will take place in Shenzhen on 29th and 30th November. As part of that conference, CBBC will invite 100 UK businesses and 200 Chinese investors where attendees can learn about the latest investment trends and opportunities in the UK and meet project funders and managers from the UK.
Representatives from London Stock Exchange, VSA Capital and Oxis Energy also made presentations at the seminar. A panel of lawyers, accountants, and local companies discussed practical variety of issues and shared their valuable experience in outbound investment.
CBBC’s China Outbound Programme is committed to linking Chinese investors with investment opportunities in the UK. It focuses on a number of sectors and themes known to be attractive and highly relevant to the China Outbound agenda.
