The UK’s decision to leave the European Union creates an unprecedented opportunity to reshape UK-China trade and investment related policy. At the same time China’s continued opening up and reform, including initiatives such as Belt & Road and Made in China 2025, are opening up new areas of opportunity. CBBC is appointing a Director, Business Environment to lead a small, dedicated team seeking a competitive and sustainable outcome both for our members and the wider British business community.
We are seeking an individual with excellent communication, research and analytical skills. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate logical decision-making whilst managing high-level projects.
Main Responsibilities:
The Director, Business Environment will be required to lead, develop, and deliver CBBC’s strategic analysis output across a range of business issues, including areas such as market access, trade policy, intellectual property, and rule of law for business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working with the team to monitor policy development and the business environment in general, identifying what issues mean for UK-China trade relations and translating them into value/revenue generating products and services;
- Develop thought leadership on research areas, initiatives and programmes including securing funding.
The Director, Business Environment will work closely with our teams across the UK and China as well as external partners.
Specific Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge of international trade policy and business development issues
Exceptional analytical and writing skills (including bid-writing)
Experience of undertaking successful collaborative research.
A well-developed network of government/political contacts in China
A good understanding of UK-China trade and investment issues in the global context
An excellent understanding of principles and practice of performance management
Strong written/spoken Mandarin skills
