Speakers

Ewan Harris
Ewan Harris is Second Secretary Political in the British Embassy.  Ewan is the Embassy’s coordinator on Belt and Road policy, overseeing the cross-Embassy work related to the BRI, providing advice to London, and ensuring that HMG’s BRI policy decisions are well understood and implemented in Beijing.  Ewan also covers China’s relations with South Asia, the Middle East, the UN and the UK-China security relationship.  Ewan has previously worked on a range of issues related to Defence and Security, including postings to the US and Afghanistan.

Jenghiz von Streng
Jenghiz von Streng leads the British Embassy’s China Infrastructure Programme, part of the UK Government’s £1.3bn Prosperity Fund to promote economic growth and development in partner countries. The China Infrastructure Programme aims to work with Chinese government and industry partners through policy development, pilot projects and capacity building to support Chinese outbound infrastructure and BRI projects to be sustainable, commercially viable and delivered to high standards. The Programme also aims to increase trade and investment opportunities for international firms on these projects.
