Description
We would like to welcome all members to a drinks reception with the UK Foreign Affairs Committee this Tuesday 18th September. The FAC will be visiting China and able to share an update to members on the current inquiry into China and the international rules-based system – The integration of China within the international rules-based system is a matter of critical importance for the long-term security of the system. This inquiry will seek to examine how China has participated and engaged with the international order, and how the UK can respond to and support the process.

The purpose of the visit is to deepen and broaden the commitee Members’ knowledge and understanding of the context of Chinese policy, and China’s relations with the UK, therefore this is a fantastic opportunity for members to meet The FAC and explain what business is really like here in mainland China!
The Foreign Affairs Committee’s remit is to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), other bodies associated with the Foreign Office and thereby within the Committee’s remit, include the British Council. The FCO is also responsible for UK participation in international and regional multilateral organisations such as the United Nations, the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), NATO and the European Union.
