[London] Real Estate Seminar 2017 – Inward Investment in UK property

London has long been one of the key global cities of choice for international property investors. Indeed, the real estate sector accounted for 44% of the value of Chinese inward investment deals into the UK announced between 2012 and the Brexit referendum in June 2016.
Following the Brexit referendum, London and the wider UK real estate market has seen a renewed level of interest from overseas investors reflecting the continued attractiveness of the UK and the relative value for money.
So far in 2017, overseas investors have accounted for 57% of direct real estate investment activity in the UK with Chinese investors taking a leading role, notably with CC Land’s purchase of the Cheesegrater in Leadenhall Street for £1.15bn. However, investing in the UK real estate market is not without its challenges, and understanding how to navigate these challenges is key to the success of any project.
At this seminar, Baker McKenzie’s experienced Real Estate team, together with invited guest speakers, will provide practical insights on the top 10 issues inward investors face when developing property in the UK. We will focus on a number of areas including construction, real estate, tax and key regulatory concerns.
The session will provide tips on how to avoid common pitfalls that may delay your investment and other key
regulation information you should be aware of. Attendance is a must for anyone contemplating investing in the UK property market!
