Among the most significant legal developments is the Standard for Automatic Exchange of Financial Accounting Information in Tax Matters which will begin to take effect in Hong Kong in 2017. This standard enables participating governments to request financial accounting and tax information of overseas tax residents and automatically transmit the data to the residents’ home jurisdictions.
