The 6th China Outbound Conference

Description

The annual CBBC China Outbound Conference has become a flagship event in the UK-China investment community. Last year’s conference in Shenzhen attracted over 700 delegates, of which around 300 were Chinese investors from state owned enterprises and listed companies.

The UK continues to offer an attractive destination for Chinese investors, with Chinese investment to the UK doubling in 2017 to $20.8Bn. The China Outbound Conference offers a unique opportunity for Chinese companies to learn more about investing in the UK, and for UK project owners, regions and service providers to network with a wide range of Chinese investors.

This year, the conference moves to Shanghai, China’s largest and most vibrant commercial and financial hub. With a population of 25 million, Shanghai is both an important consumer market, and an important centre for leading foreign investors and Chinese enterprises, including the likes of Bank of Shanghai, Ctrip, Fosun, Greenland Holdings, and SAIC Automotive. This year’s China Outbound conference is timed to coincide with the China International Import Expo (CIIE), China’s first international exhibition dedicated to foreign imports, including the provision of services for Chinese companies with global aspirations

Topics
In the context of Brexit and tensions in US-China trade relations, the conference will examine the current UK Investment Climate and opportunities for a closer UK-China partnership. The conference will also include a UK Regional Investment Showcase, representing an opportunity for UK regional partners to highlight specific projects or regional investment opportunities. The conference will also hold a session on the Belt & Road Initiative, as well as panel discussions exploring investment opportunities in specific industry sectors, including Technology and Innovation, Education, and other strategic sectors where UK offers intrinsic value to Chinese investors.

Practical workshops for Chinese companies will offer support on how to invest or set-up operations in the UK. These workshops will cover important practical issues, such as corporate structuring, pre-acquisition due diligence, legal issues, tax planning, employment and PR & Communications. These workshops represent an opportunity for CBBC members and event sponsors to engage directly with Chinese investors.

The conference will also include a project pitching session for companies seeking capital to pitch directly to Chinese investors. In addition, there will also be one-to-one meetings for service providers and project owners to meet with Chinese investors.

Venue
The 6th China Outbound conference will take place at JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Changfeng Park. Close to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, the venue is just 20 mins by taxi from People’s Square and 30 mins from the CIIE venue (the National Exhibition and Convention Center) in western Shanghai.

China Outbound – Investment Project Catalogue
CBBC’s Investment Project Catalogue 2018 is a dual language digital & print publication which will be distributed at the conference and circulated to investors ahead of the event. It includes a range of carefully selected, high-quality UK projects across key sectors of direct appeal to Chinese investors.
