The forum is co-chaired by Peter Hogg (Heliren) and Jamie Stevenson (ICBC).

Who should join

The Forum invites BritCham and CBBC members with an interest in the finance sector to share expertise, experience and common concerns about the China market. It offers members the opportunity to meet on a regular basis to discuss policy, regulatory and industry developments and issues from different perspectives, ranging from macro economics to specific sector-focused topics.

Forum's Objectives
  • To provide a platform for information sharing on Chinese banking, insurance, fund management, private equity, listing, accounting and taxation for forum members through online library access, newsletters, roundtable discussions and seminars, featuring speakers from both British and Chinese institutions.
  • To promote the strength of the UK finance sector and provide a point of liaison with the Chinese authorities where the UK’s opinion could be proffered on proposed market developments.
  • To promote exchanges with Chinese stakeholders including regulators, central and local governments and practitioners.
  • To support the British Embassy and UKTI with senior-level finance-focused official visits and business delegations.
  • To advise British newcomers in the finance sector on regulatory and practical market entry issues.

Peter Hogg
Peter Hogg

Peter spent 36 years in the Asian Insurance and Reinsurance industry. He spent 24 years at Willis and in 2000 founded Neuron, an outsource administration company. In 2011 he moved to head up Heliren, an insurance broker in Beijing helping Chinese enterprises overseas and bringing in international expertise.

Mike McCourt

Mike is the Senior Account Manager for Control Risks Group in North China. Control Risks acts for large corporates advising on the political, integrity & security risks associated with doing business in complex and/or hostile environments.
