Are you a driven and motivated individual who would like to join our dynamic British Chamber team?

The British Chamber is currently looking for a Senior Policy Analyst to join our dynamic team in our office in the Beijing CBD.

 

Objectives of the role:

  • Explore and present the concerns of British business to government stakeholders
  • Develop new products that express policy recommendations on behalf of members or provide policy insights for businesses
  • Expand representation in our advocacy work
  • Strengthen relationships with government and other stakeholders
  • Strengthen brand awareness around policy work
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead on the development of existing and new policy initiatives (eg. our Annual Position Paper and Business Sentiment Survey)
  • Track major policy announcements from Chinese regulators and other developments relevant to British businesses in China
  • Be point person for regulatory issues in the financial services, legal services, food, beverage and retail, and education sectors.
  • Develop and manage relationships with government, member companies and other external stakeholders
  • Work with Executive Committee on messaging for key reports
  • Support on drafting of speeches, letters and other external messaging
 

Work on a daily basis with…

  • DIT
  • FCDO
  • MOFCOM
  • CCPIT
  • And other key government and non-government organisations supporting UK-China trade
 

What do we need from you?

Essential skills:

  • An undergraduate degree in public policy, economics, international relations or a related degree. A postgraduate degree is desirable but not essential.
  • 4 years’ work experience, preferably including writing policy documents and/or undertaking primary research
  • A solid understanding of China and UK-China relations
  • Native or near-native English language skills (British English) and advanced Mandarin (spoken and written)
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Experience presenting information to external stakeholders
  • An ability to manage several projects simultaneously to strict deadlines
  • An ability to lead a small team
  • Strong IT skills
Desirable extras:

  • Experience working with very senior stakeholders
  • Experience working in the financial services, legal services, food, beverage and retail, and/or education sectors
